May 20, 2026. On May 19, 2026, the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping celebrated the 150th anniversary of its founding.

Director of the Geophysical Center RAS, member of the RAS Scientific Council "Environment and Transport", Corresponding Member of RAS Anatoly Soloviev congratulated the rector of the legendary university, Dr.Sc. Sergey Sokolov, as well as its staff and cadets, on the anniversary.

The Earth sciences are powerless without a fleet, and there is ample evidence of this throughout history. One such example is the non-magnetic schooner Zarya, which is the same age as the GC RAS and was built for the International Geophysical Year. Under the command of a captain and graduate of Makarov University, the schooner conducted a round-the-world expedition to carry out a magnetic survey of the World Ocean.

Anatoly Soloviev wished the graduates great scientific victories that will earn a worthy place in the history of our country.
