About the Lithology Section
The Moscow Society of Naturalists is one of the oldest natural science societies in Russia and has historical ties with Lomonosov Moscow State University. Its Lithology Section was established in 1944 on the initiative of Professor Mikhail Shvetsov. It serves as a platform for discussing pressing issues in modern lithology. Section participants develop new approaches to studying sedimentary rocks, examine the effectiveness of applying fundamental lithological knowledge in applied research, and explore other relevant topics. It is chaired by Principal Research Scientist at the GC RAS, D.Sc. Yuliana Rostovtseva. The academic secretary is Senior Resear Scientist at Lomonosov Moscow State University, PhD Kulyash Sedaeva.
