On January 26, an online meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held, one of the issues of which was the creation of an Interdepartmental Coordination Council for international scientific and scientific-technical cooperation. The Council was established to promote the activities of RAS in the field of international cooperation in the field of science and technology.

The Council was chaired by the President of RAS Alexander Mikhailovich Sergeev. Yuri Yurievich Balega, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, became his deputy. The council included the heads of all three regional branches of RAS: Vice President of RAS, Chairman of the Siberian Branch of RAS Valentin Nikolaevich Parmon, Vice President of RAS, Chairman of the Ural Branch of RAS Valery Nikolaevich Charushin and Vice President of RAS, Chairman of the Far Eastern Branch of RAS Valentin Ivanovich Sergienko.

By the decision of the Presidium, Chief Scientist of GC RAS, Chairman of the Scientific Council of RAS for the Study of the Arctic and Antarctic, Academician Alexei Dzhermenovich Gvishiani was included in the Council.

The Council also includes Vice President of RAS Irina Mikhailovna Donnik, Vice President of RAS Vladimir Pavlovich Chekhonin, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of RAS Nikolai Kuzmich Dolgushkin, Academician Secretary of the Department of Biological Sciences of RAS Mikhail Petrovich Kirpichnikov, Chairman of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research Vladislav Yakovlevich Panchenko and others.

The Council includes not only members of RAS, but also representatives of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
